Questions about self-studying APs

Hello I am currently a Sophomore in High School and I have some questions about self-studying APs. I am going to take AP Euro and APUSH as courses in my junior year. I am currently considering self-studying some classes such as AP Bio , AP Psychology , and AP Human Geography. I do not wish to take all there of these courses, but just maybe one or two of them. I have heard that APHG is the easiet AP, but I didn't take it in my freshmen year. Would I still be aloud to take this AP exam despite not being a freshmen? Also at my school the AP Bio course is only alloud to taken after Bio Honors, but I have already taken regular Biology. If I self-study for this Exam would I be aloud to take it despite not having done Bio honors? Also is there any restrictions for the AP exams , such as grade , or prerequisite etc? One last question, if I sign up for these exams would I have to pay for them myself since I am not taking the course at my school or would the school still pay for me?I would most appericate any information that can shed some light on self-studying APs. If you have any reccomendations or opinions, please feel free to post them.

Yes, you are allowed to take the exams if you don’t take the class. Just talk to you college guidance counselor.

I self-studied for APHG this year starting at 11pm the night before the exam and probably got a 4 lol. I heard AP Bio is really hard, but if you are taking honors, are very ambitious, and manage your time correctly, you could probably do well. AP Psyc is also supposedly very easy. Definitely self-studyable.

I self studied AP Psychology in 2 days and got a 4 last year. I self studied AP human geography this year for around a day. I say for AP Biology wait a year or two before self studying to be able to articulate your writing in an effective manner, but that’s your choice. I was going to self study AP Bio as well but didn’t have any background in it so I’ve dropped it. AP Environmental Science could be looked into as well as the ecology portion correlates in bio and this AP.

As for paying for tests, I had to pay for mine regardless if I had a class or not.

Thanks for the information. I kinda knew AP Bio would be a sterech. I think I might do AP Psychology or APHG. That sucks that you had to pay for yours. My HS paid for my APWH exam , but I took the course at the school. I guess I’ll have to ask them about that. Thanks again though.
