Questions about Siemens

Ok, I know you guys are probably sick of this, but I can't think of a better place to ask.

When I send in my research paper, let me get this right:

I have big brown envelope

-1 original and 3 copies of paper = 4 research papers, with abstract stapled to top of each research paper

-3(1 original, 2 copies) confirmation pages, not stapled to research papers

4 title pages, NOT stapled to research papers

Small sealed/signed envelope from mentor with 4(1 original, 2 copies) of mentor form

Fedexed overnight on thursday.

Any thing I am doing wrong? I'm kinda of nervous, since I'm the team leader, and have to fill out the paper work, and I don't want to mess something up. Are the siemens people really strict, like, "he stapled title page on top of research paper, disqualified!" ?

you'll be fine....

the hardest thing is getting a staple through those darn papers! arghh

'Three original copies of the Research Report are to be submitted so that all graphics and colors are clear on all copies.'

'One original and two copies of the Confirmation Page are required. Attach one to each of the three original copies of the Research Report.'

Three copies not four or I'm going to shoot myself in the foot.

lol i used medium sized staples

lol, yes getting the staples in on the drafts was hard.

Doing final edit tonight, and doing US Postal Express Overnight thing tomorrow.

Are we allowed to submit our report to other journals after entering siemens? I was thinking nature, science, discover... yeah right! Maybe a few more specific journals like Neuron, though they probably won't accept.

One question: On the confirmation page, i printed, and it won't come out all nicely, so I copied into word document, and it came out perfectly. I got it signed and everything. Will they get angry because I didn't print directly from IE?

Yes, I am very paranoid as you can probably tell, but I've come to far to mess up now.

'I was thinking nature, science, discover'

wow u must have a very good paper.. nature only accepts 5 % of papers submitted.

(Warning! Grouchy undergrad alert!)

Yeah, 5% of the papers submitted by postdocs/PIs in good labs with earthshattering research.

i agree.. i was being on the optimistic side lol..

i dont think they allow papers from first-time authors.. you have to have great credentials to validate your work. oh, and earthshattering research!

Haha seriously, nature has one of the highest impact factors (a quantitative measurement of the quality of a journal). Just to give an idea, New England Journal of Medicine I believe has the highest impact factor of around 34000, and Nature is somewhere along the lines of 33000.

Yeah, I was just joking about nature. But def try and publish in that in like 5+ years.

I read nature though.

I stayed up till 3am printing and stuff.

You guys were correct, the stapling job is very tough indeed.

*fall asleep.

lmao mollieb! The disclaimer is awesome :P

Once we submit our project, are we allowed to share our paper with others?

Were we not supposed to staple the title page to the research papers? I did.

sorry, i did too. I kind of didn't know what I was talking about when I posted this.

I've heard that the title page stays with the paper, and that they collect the personal info, and black it out with perm marker or something.
