I just checked out Uchicago's website, which said transfers have to take the core curriculum and half of the major at U of C, so i am a bit worried if many of my credits wont be accepted...i will apply for transfer as a rising junior, and took classes such as psych, physics, math....so do i have to re-take all those coures?..btw, i am an Econ major if that matters. Thx!

Before you apply to transfer -- before you DECIDE to apply to transfer -- you need to do enough research about Chicago to know what the core is and whether you want to take it.

It's likely that all of your credits will be accepted, and that none of them will be accepted as counting towards the core Hum, Sosc, and Civ requirements, which would take you the equivalent of two full quarters to complete. (Don't take my word for it though, because I don't know. Read the materials on the web site and in the catalog, then call and ask if you aren't sure.) You can probably meet some of the core requirements with math, physics (or chemistry), biology, and art/music/theater (or history thereof) classes. And make certain you meet the language requirement.

I would hazard a guess that lots of people who transfer in at the beginning of their third years take more than six quarters to complete the core and their concentrations in order to graduate. You can help yourself if you understand now what classes it might be a good idea to take this year if you hope to transfer next year.
