<p>I have recently been accepted as a transfer for Fall 2011.
I was wondering if anyone knew some details about life as a transfer at Binghamton.
For example, do they generally house transfers together? Are there orientation and/or other programs for transfers?
Any information would be greatly appreciated!

<p>I think they randomly mix people up for housing unless if they choose their roommate beforehand…not sure. Does anyone know if there’s a facebook group made for Transfer students who are attending Binghamton in the fall of 2011? If not, I think I’ll go ahead and make one so that we can get to know each other before moving in!</p>
<p>Sounds like a good idea sheer. I know there is a welcome day on April 2nd and April 10th. You can probably get more information there. I’m attending the one on the second.</p>
<p>Transfers are housed where ever there is room for them. My friend had a transfer as roommate last year when we were freshman. My roommates this year were/are transfers (one was a sophomore, the other a freshman- only spent a single semester at the original school).</p>
<p>I think there is a summer orientation for transfers entering in Fall (there’s also a winter session for the Spring admits). The Discovery Center (peer academic advisors essentially) hosts a few meet-and-greet type sessions for transfers, in addition to helping with scheduling. CIW has a transfer mentor program. </p>
<p>Once you find people to hang out with, there’s no difference between you and everyone else. Transfers are common (I’m friends with a few) so there’s no stigma. Enjoy Binghamton!</p>
