Questions about transfer

I took several easy courses at freshman year and got very good GPA at X (a top 20 school). I want to transfer to another school (Y), and I am pretty sure that my GPA will be much much lower because of the grade deflation at school Y. So how will my GPA after graduation be calculated? If I want to apply to business school, how will my GPA be considered (average of 4 years or 3 years)?

The reason I want to transfer from school X is that there are not many majors in the school of engineering, and I want to work at I-bank. So is it a good reason to transfer?

Is this possible to get transfer financial aid as an international student at Cornell ?

I once applied to Upenn when I was at high school. So do admission officers look at my freshman application when I transfer as a sophomore?

You want to work in I-banking, but are in the college of engineering? Are you an aspiring quant?

You will start with a fresh GPA at your new college, but business schools etc. will be looking at all transcripts.

Why engineering if you want to be in I-banking? I-banking will want to look at your GPA and engineering is notorious for grade deflation.

Not all ivies have good engineering programs (ie Yale).

Actually I first loved chemical engineering when I applied as a freshman student but now I know that I don’t love it that much. My college of engineering only offers some majors like: chemical/mechanical/eletrical engineering or computer science (not so many). And now I don’t know which major I should declare when I want to work at Ibank. So i think I should transfer out of engineering…
Financial Engineering (at Cornell) is a great option for me but my college does not provide this.

@Chicago Bears: which major is best for a quant?

^Some schools offer financial engineering but most quants are math majors. If you get into Cornell then financial engineering would probably be your best bet.

The problem is that I want to get to business school and if I transfer, my GPA will be lower. I just don’t want to waste my great freshman GPA at a top 20 school…It is hard to decide. Any advices?
