I'm beginning to think that I'd like to transfer to Rhodes. I actually applied last year and was offered a $33,000 financial aid pack, but turned it down because I thought that I wanted to go to a school with an engineering program. I'm doing well in all my classes but I'm realizing that I'm much more interested in history specifically classical history which I hear that Rhodes has a great Greek and Roman studies program. But would I be less likely to receive a high financial aid package as a transfer student? I have a 33 ACT and a 3.3 high school gpa (but was 8th in the class). And how are transfer students usually perceived at Rhodes? Since it's such a small school, i could see where it would be difficult to join the close-knit groups. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Anybody have any advice?

I went to a LAC (but not Rhodes), and transfer students had no trouble assimilating. There’s about a 25% turnover in college every year as new freshmen arrive, and because of the social nature of a residential college there’s just not that much of a grade-level distinction in college the way there is in high school. At Rhodes the fraternities do not live in separate houses but do have houses for hosting social events, so either joining a frat or attending open events should help you network quickly with other Rhodes students.

Thanks for your help! I’m glad I won’t have to worry about that. Has anybody on here gone through the Rhodes transfer process?
