Questions about UC Application Update & myBerkeleyApplication...

I have a question. I took a class that was non UC transferable and got a B so my gpa on my transcript is lower than it should be. Should I recalculate my gpa without that class and post it on myberkeley or just leave it as it is? I emailed the reps a week ago but they haven’t responded.

@Dillpickles123‌

First, excellent user name.

Second, no you do not need to recalculate. The UCs will only use classes that transfer in their decisions.

@luckie1367 Thanks. I’ll just leave the current gpa on myberkeley.

I thought the myberkeley forms just ask for uc transferable, IGETC, and major prep. I don’t recall the forms asking you to calculate cumulative GPA.

However, if it does, put the GPA that your CCC has listed (meaning add that class). The UCs recalculate later and many of them do start with overall GPA, then work their way to transferable GPA. Let them handle it. That lower GPA is not going to impact anything.

I just checked my unofficial transcript and my spring courses are listed as ‘IP’ though the semester hasn’t started. I’ve read the earlier pages of this thread suggesting to report spring as PL so I want to double check with you guys first…what to do?

Then go ahead and put IP. I don’t think they’ll care at this point.

@Dillpickles123‌ I’m sorry if I sound blunt, but I need to ask you: What exactly were you asking? Were you asking if when you entered the classes in the forms for IGETC, major prep and transferable, if the UC’s auto-populated the GPAs for those forms, were you asking if you should override those UC auto-populated GPAs with a new GPA that took into account classes not on the form? I’m kind of confused. Why would you change a UC-populated calculation?

What I thought you were saying: there was a place where you the student had to manually enter your GPA and should you put the transcript GPA in (which included non-transferable), or should you, the student, recalculate it leaving out the non-transferable? As I noted, you should not recalculate anything, and if they were asking for your GPA (even in the transferable form), enter it as it appears in transcript and let them deal with it.

So, I guess you were really asking if you should change stuff already calculated on the form by the UC. Um, no.

@lindyk8 On my myberkeley where it asked you to insert your classes/grades, at the bottom they also ask you to input your gpa. I wasn’t sure if I should put in my overall gpa which is lower than my UC gpa. But I think your advice is the best in which I should just use my overall gpa and let them figure it out later.

If it says IP put IP @‌JustinUC

The earlier argument consisted of putting IP when a class was not IP. However, your class IS IP so you can place it IP

Ah, @Dillpickles123‌ , ah, I have the whole form pucturd in my head and I can’t remember that GPA line. If it is there, yeah, then what I first said, stands. I would put in what is in the transcript.

I don’t have a place to list GPA

Neither do I, i was searching for it, but i dont have one. Maybe its for specific majors?

Last minute question: on the breadth form, I have some honors course. Should I include them in comment section?

Yeah, you might as well. I would.

I did on my app, but not on my UCB forms
