Questions - All Girls College

Hey guys! So I was accepted to Scripps this year and was wondering what the social scene looked like? Is it a problem meeting boys as its an all girls college?

Women…not girls.

Have you visited? Scripps is part of the Clarmont Consortium: Scripps, Harvey Mudd, Claremont McKenna, Pitzer and Pomona. All the other colleges are coed. Most of the students cross-register so you will probably take classes with men in them. You will eat with them, exercise with them and share a library with them. And the schools are situated right next to each other. I am not a student, but would be surprised if the social scene is any different from any other coed LAC.

Hey @xxxvxxx, congrats! Scripps is a great school. I concur with @mamom 's comments. You will have an opportunity to take classes within the other schools at the Consortium, choose which cafeteria you eat from, study in the shared library, and do other extra curricular activities where there are lots of opportunities for verbal interactions. Best of luck with your college decision.

Most likely they only classes you’ll have that are strictly women will be the core curriculum classes (i.e. Scripps students only). There will be male students in your Scripps classes and you’ll likely take classes at one or more of the other schools as well. My D took classes at 4 of the 5 schools. And even though she was a Scrippsie, she ate most of her meals at Mudd.

Congrats on your acceptance.
