Questions and Essay Feedback

First I have a question. How does the common app work? There are like 7 essay prompts, so come this fall (I’m a junior), am I going to be sending all 7 common app essays to every college or just one essay? I’m not talking about supplementals.

I answered this essay prompt:
3. Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome?

When I wrote the essay, I was under the impression that I’d be sending all 7 essays to each college, so I thought I could use all 7 to really express different aspects of my personality and identity. Now that there’s a possibility that I only get to send one essay, I’m worried that I haven’t showed enough about myself in this essay. I’ve really only showed one side, but I wanted a chance to show more (if this is the only non-supplemental essay I get to send) and I don’t know how to rewrite it to accommodate the extra information.

Also, my dad thinks that I can rub people the wrong way with my essay. My mom thinks its a really good, unique topic. My main question is: how did you receive my work? What impression did you get of me?

Not really concerned with grammar, etc. I’m going to rewrite the first two-three sentences for a better hook without a doubt.

**Please PM me if you’re down to read my essay. Not sending to members that don’t have an established presence on this forum.

You get one. This is your chance to show who you are so use it wisely!

@shkodra14 - you will choose one out of the seven essay prompts…not 7! This essay must be between 250-650 words. All of the CA schools who require the essay will receive this essay. Note: some CA schools give you the option of sending the essay or not. You do have the opportunity to change/customize your essay for each school if you choose to do so (basically, your essay is not locked in; you can make changes before submitting to an individual school.
Take the opportunity to use your essay to highlight your “core qualities” - Ex, are you creative? compassionate? adventurous? artistic? into computers? a math wiz? super organized? Highlight something about yourself that is not evident anywhere else in your application. You do not have to show every side of yourself, just some things that are important to you. The goal is to engage the admissions counselor and to let them get a glimpse into who you are as a person. You want him/her to read your essay and say…“hey, I like this kid. I want him/her to come to my school.”
