Just so people know, I'm here to answer some questions if need be (I roam here occasionally....when I have time ;))

Have done a little research

How does the campus look, can't really see it on google.
What other universities is the campus similar to?
Is the campus large?
How is their pre-medicine school?
What all is there to do near State College, and how is the city itself?

State College is....pretty much University Park Its a college town, so there are things to do off campus but don't expect anything like a big city. However it is very safe if that counts for anything :P.
The campus is VERY VERY VERY BIG.
Pre-Med I dont know Im an Engineer ;). The campus is similar to any huge campus in a college town.

Pre-med is a major in the college of science. Its a decent program, preps you for med school. I have heard it is overkill in some areas (requires calc physics where most med schools require alg physics). More or less a weeder program.

PSU is a standard big 10 school. I felt that the "feel" of MSU and Purdue when I visted are very similar to Penn State.

My son will be doing the Summer Leap program this summer. So far all I have read on the boards was all postive experiences regarding past summers. Has anyone heard of someone having a bad experience? My s is not thrilled about having to start program just a few days after graduation, but the opportunity to go to PSU Up campus is all he has wanted and so he was willing to give up his summer for it. Just curious about different points of view regarding the Leap Program

My brother did Leap when he was a freshman. You take 2 courses usually and have the same people in your classes. You get to meet a smaller group of students and can get acclimated to the campus/university before the arrival of the masses. And you get some credits under your belt. If you or your S/D are ok with going back to school so soon after graduation, I'd say it's a positive thing! Agree about the no A/C thing though...I though it was bad in August/September....I can't imagine June/July!
