Should I mention FIDE ratings on my resume?

How heavily rated players are considered?

What if I have a top 200 rank in a National Chess Tournament and I am not rated? Will it look dumb? Will it be considered heavily?

Please help…

I’ll be honest with you - if this is something you’re passionate about, then you should definitely put it on your app. It shows accomplishment and that can’t hurt your chances

Market what’s worth marketing.

If chess is important to you and you spend a lot of time doing it (hopefully you’ve started or joined some kind of chess club/team at school) but your FIDE rating isn’t exceptional, don’t worry about the rating and focus on the qualitative things.

If your FIDE rating is good…I don’t know, 2000+? I’d include both the qualitative things and also mention the rating.

In any case, I doubt most admissions officers know that much about organized chess.

Thank you all for responding…
