Questions of a senior standing student to transfer to UC

Hi, I’m SBCC student for 1 year. I plan to transfer to a UC to pursue my CSE bachelor degree. My GPA is 4.0 now and I’ve met al the pre-req of CSE major.

Previous to SBCC, I was at a Chinese 4-year college, and studied physics. My GPA was 2.3 there and I gained ~110 units. Unfortunately I didn’t obtain my degree there.

With no doubt, I’m now a senior standing students that would face several discriminate policies. And I would bear the burden of previous bad academics record. Seems that only UCB, UCD and UCI are the decnet schools that are open to senior standing students of CSE major. I would see UCD as my target school.

My questions are
0) Would a students with too many excess units, previous bad record but in good academic standing and show undoubted potential to finish the academic plan be admitted by the school?

  1. I feel that I could afford more courses. If I take upper-level courses in UCSB extensions and get high scores, would it be a harm or a remedy of my application?

  2. Could I use the excess upper-level units in extension school to meet the graduation requirement? I’ve seen various statements on it from different sources:)

  3. When signing a TAG, would the admission office solely look at whether the GPA at CC meet the 3.3 criteria for CoE, or see whether the accumulated (4-year+CC+UCSB) GPA reach the bar?

Any helps are welcome!

I would bring my overall GPA up to 3.15 if I took courses in UCSB extensions as well at the time of application.
