first of all, i know very little about boarding/prep schools. im a sophomore in high school looking at boarding schools for several reasons. i am very smart, but my grades havent always reflected it. i have a 3.2 at a very competitive private high school in oklahoma. i have gotten into some trouble at home, but nothing to make my parents send me away, i just feel that i would be better off in another surrounding. i also am a very competitive basketball player, and i am trying to play college basketball, hopefully Division 1 or 2.

i have had trouble with add/adhd my entire school life, and my current high school is very structured and i feel my school holds me back some in this area. i am capable of doing much better than i currently am, and i would say i am fairly motivated. i suppose part of what im wondering is whether i would belong at a therapuetic type of school, or a college-prep school. im at a "college-preparatory" high school right now, but i think with smaller class sizes and more 1on1 attention, i would do better. im very creative and i would love a school that would truly encourage creativity.

location isnt all that important to me, although i live in oklahoma and kind of want to get away from here. i love the west coast, and would probably prefer something in california, but im willing to look anywhere.

so i guess what im looking for is a boarding school that has rigorous academics that will prepare you for college, but also is understanding towards students and would be a good place for someone who has add/adhd type learning issues, and also very importantly it needs to have a strong basketball program that would prepare me for college basketball and allow me to work very hard. is there such a school?

sorry i went on so long, thank you for your help.

also, i am just now really starting to look at prep/boarding schools. is it pretty much too late to apply for next year, especially since boarding school is just an idea for me right now? and also, could i redo a year if i go to a prep/boarding school?
