Questions on essay prompts :(

<p>I’m planning to apply brown RD as an engineering major, and as some of you may know they require more essays for engineering applicant. I’m curious, howerver, whether all of engineering applicants have to write this essay :</p>

<li>Brown offers programs in Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Materials and Mechanical Engineering. Because there is a common core curriculum within Engineering, students need not select a specific area until their junior year. We are curious, however, as to whether any particular program within Engineering presently appeals to you. Please discuss that choice if you have one.</li>
</ul>

<p>What if I don’t have choice? ;; blah I’ve already answered two short answers relating to the reason why I wanna study , it would be redundant if I just say 'I wanna study engineering, for this and this reason, but no particular choice for now. " or sth…</p>

<p>Do you think I am too naive? What would you guys do ? Thanks ahead.</p>

<p>I think the words "whether" and "if" imply that you don't have to pick an area yet. So you're probably fine to say "I'm really not sure which one yet."</p>

<p>D's interviewer claimed that Brown likes applicants that have not made up their minds yet about what they want to major in - one kind of student that will benefit from the Brown curriculum.</p>

<p>I would put a mini plan in that slot if I had one - e.g., "I plan to start taking courses in EE but sit in on classes in biomedical engineering ..."</p>
