I've applied 5 CSUs and one of them, SFSU, has requested my transcript on grades from the beginning of enrollment through Fall 2010.

The deadline for SFSU to accept any transcripts is February 25.

1) My first question is once I do obtain an official transcript what should information should be placed on the envelope for the post office to mail it? Are the only things required include:

a) a 99 cent stamp in the right-hand corner
b) SFSU address in the middle
c )Anything else needed?

2) I live in Contra Costa County, so if I mail the transcript on February 15 or 16, will it reach the SFSU admissions office on time before February 25?

I really appreciate any information provided.

The college/s should mail your transcripts directly for you – no need to make extra trips, etc. I know that at one of our local CCCs, transcripts can be ordered online AND the college sends a “digital” copy directly online to the receiving college. And at another local CCC that while one has to go physically into the registrar’s office, that once the form is filled out and paid, the college will mail out the transcript for the student (no stamps need to be provided, etc.)

If you want the transcript/s to go out the door FAST, then look into “Rush Service” (often a day or less) by the college–Rush Service refers to how fast they print and get it into the US Post Office, not how fast the Post Office itself goes once it has your envelope. Digital copies go immediately, of course.

Yes, 10 days is a good lead time for transcripts once they hit the US Postal Service’s hands.
