Questions regarding Pharmacy

Hey, I want go into the pharmacy field, but I have a few questions. After the PharmD program, do we have to go to graduate school for another 2 years to get masters degree? Please leave any other information Pharmacy, thank you.

Note: Some of the info I have is regarding pharmacy in Alberta, although it should be more or less the same for your area.

There's three areas of pharmacy you can go into; each requires a different amount of education. There's the pharmacy assistant, the pharmacy technician, and of course, the pharmacist.

To become a pharmacist in the US, you'll need a minimum of 2 years of "pre-pharmacy" courses (ie. math, natural sciences, humanities, social sciences) before entering the Pharm.D. 4-year program. Some colleges will require you to take an exam called PCAT (Pharmacy College Admissions Test)

Once you've graduated, you'll need to write the North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam (NAPLEX), and the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam (MPJE) (except if you are in California). Once you're licensed, you can work in a variety in places, including retail pharmacies, and hospitals/clincs.

If you're interested in doing research for a drug company, or teaching at a university, you can go on to obtain a masters or PhD degree in pharmacy.
