I was wondering, if you were to have self-published a book (I have sp'ed a children's book) would that look good on your application? or would it only catch their eye if it was truly published? Would a self-published novel look better than a self-published children's book? Also, if you are in a sport outside of school and attend weekly but don't compete or anything, does that standout on your application as a true sport? or just a sports lesson? I wan to publish my children's book, but I don't know if I want to go through the trouble of finding myself an agent and all that. Hmm.

Sorry if this was posted in the wrong area. Any feedback is much appreciated! =D

Self publishing (novel or children's book) carries no great weight IMHO. Anyone with money can do it. There is no outside, verifiable indication of your writing ability (unless you happen to sell thousands of copies). All it indicates is that you are interested in writing but no measure of ability, I'm afraid.

Also, it's worth mentioning the outside sport.

Thank you for your feedback. Can anyone else provide some more detail into to my questions? Even though the sport is merely a sports lesson, that still looks good?
