Hi. I am a senior in high school right now. I am planning on attending a community college and then transfer into a university. I know that some private colleges ask for high school transcript. My gpa is 3.6 but right now my second semester of senior year i think i will bet getting some C's .. and i was wondering do colleges reject you based on high school transcript or if i get good grades in college, it'll make up the bad grades in high school. And, i was wondering if colleges look at volunteer experiences in high school for transfer students. I volunteered at a local hospital for four years including an internship at the hospital and i want to know if that will help me or not. Thank you so much !!

If you finish some amount of work at a community college, only your community college work is considered (2 years worth usually). It kind of depends on what community college you're going to.

Depends which universities you're talking about.

If you transfer as a junior (after 2 years CC), most emphasis will be on your college transcript, HS plays only a minor role. This does not mean that colleges don't look at your HS transcript at all though, but as long as it's not incredibly bad, it probably won't affect admission decisions much.

If you transfer as a sophomore (after 1 year CC), more emphasis will be on your HS transcript.

In general, volunteering/ECs count less for transfer admissions than for freshman admission, so I guess some volunteering won't affect your chances much. But yeah, if you have a chance to put it down on your app, why not?
