Questions

Hi my name is David Wang. I scored an 1840 SAT and 29 ACT. I sent 1 recommendation and had an outstanding essay. II got into Ohio State University with the trustee scholarship and national buckeye scholar. I am wondering how campus life is? I also got into Penn State but still deciding. I mostly care about campus and social life (: Thank you all for reading and have a great day!

Woops forgot to add that I got into the business program (fisher). What is interesting is that it says Bachelor of Science. Very curious about that <--------------

David, have you visited the school? I highly recommend that you do, and that you sign up for a tour if they are still available. The school is sparklingly beautiful, the campus town is accessible and fun, and the students seem very friendly and welcoming. But you really should visit the school before you commit, if possible.

Hi David, you have been accepted by two great schools. Congratulations!

Pospect1’s suggestions and comments above are spot on. Please try to come to Columbus and take one of the wonderful OSU tours. The campus is amazing, the students friendly, there are over 1000 social clubs. There is a strong pride in the school, and the students are serious about the academics. OSU has a very strong Freshman Year Experience program, which provides a lot of support to incoming freshman and their parents.

My daughter is a freshman at OSU and got involved in quite a few of the social organizations, and actually had to cut back on them her second semester and focus more on her studies. She got a bit swept away by all the social opportunities.

Yes, congratulations. Visit both campuses, talk to a professor or two and try to attend a class.

Congratulation. My daughter was also accepted at Penn State. Pitt, and Ohio state. We live in PA so 1/3 of her graduating class applied to Penn State. She visited the Ohio State campus a couple times and loved it. We were taking our Penn State visit when about half way through it she looked at me and said OH and I replied IO. So visit Ohio State, it is a great college and I think you will really enjoy it if you visited there.

@multirick @osumom2018 We are from PA and my S has also been accepted to Penn State Main, Pitt and OSU (and 5 others that he isn’t even considering now!) . he always thought he would go to Pitt or Penn State but is totally focused on OSU and merit scholarship makes it less expensive than the two in-state choices. heading to OSU in 3 weeks and I think that will be the final step in making him a Buckeye! so much for having a shorter drive to visit

researchQ, have a good trip to Ohio. I hope you are taking one of the campus tours, they do a really nice job with them. Yes, sorry, it is a longer drive for the OOS students. But there is so much for the kids to do, there are now over 1100 social clubs, your S will keep busy. Congratulations to him on his acceptance and merit aid! I made a list on another thread in this forum on things you might want to see and do while on campus. I can repost it here if you want and it is not off topic.

@osumom2018 one of the reasons we are good with my S’s choice is that we have heard how friendly and nice everyone is at OSU and you have reinforced that understanding! thanks for the advice; we are confirmed for an accepted student visit. i will look for your previous post. Thanks again!

ResearchQ, see the name of the thread below, I cannot figure out how to post the URL for it. :frowning:
There are other ideas from other posters too about what to see and do while you are visiting the campus.
Basically I posted a few campus areas of interest, many will be covered during the tour.

I think you will find Ohio friendly, especially Columbus and Ohio State. My daughter loves meeting students from all over the county and world!

Visiting OSU: What would you recommend for food and places to see?
