Questions

Hi,

I have two questions.

1) My SAT II scores are IIC 780, Chem 780, Bio 720. Should I consider retaking any of them?

2) The most advanced math class in my HS is BC Calculus, which I've taken already. (I'm in my senior year now). The local community college requires HS students to start at Calc C, which is a waste of time. I'm looking into taking math online through EPGY (multivariable). Is it a good program and will Caltech accept the credits?

Thanks

I've heard that it is a good program. However, Caltech takes NO credit. No AP credit, no EPGY credit, no college transfer credit. There are placement tests, but that's the only way to get out of classes.

It might sound crazy, but consider retaking IIC. In the RD decisions thread, there was an incredible correlation between IIC score and acceptance.

Your bio is probably worth retaking if you're planning to submit it.

EPGY is great. It'll help toward admisison, but not toward math credits here.

(btw, dLo -- sometimes the phys department takes transcripts from an EM course that uses the Purcell book in lieu of the test; but otherwise the rule is pretty sound that Caltech only uses its own placement tests)

randomperson, do you have the link to the RD decisions thread?
