quick admissions question(canidate number)

What exactly is your canidate number? Is it just once you fill out your preliminary application and the admission board see's you as a worthy canidate you are issued a canidate number. And once you have been issued this number does that mean you are accepted by the academy and now all you lack is a nominating source? Any information would be grealty appreciated thanks.

if you're issued a candidate number it means that you're an official USNA candidate and that you can view the online CIS to fill out your application

you get one if USNA considers you qualified by your preliminary application (or in my case by attendance at NASS)

it does not mean that you're accepted, you are 1 of about 12,000 who are trying to get into the 1200 spots

A candidate number usually means that you have achieved the minimum SAT/ACT score requirements....that's about it!
