Quick clarification on application

There are two 'sections' in the Faculty of Science, the life sciences/biomedical sciences etc., and the physical/earth/computer sciences. The latter has a minimum required average of 85% compared to the former's 91.5%. Because they're both in the Faculty of Science, the first year program will be identical (Freshman science program), so if one isn't positive they have a high enough average to be accepted into the life sciences program, couldn't they just apply to the physical sciences and then apply to whatever major they want in second year?

Can you apply to both sections in the faculty of science (so, if you do get accepted to the life sciences one, you can just accept that, but otherwise it won't make a difference if you start out in the physical sciences)? Or do you have to pick a different faculty as your backup?

this is a good question… I would like to know the answer as well.

After more research, I found that although you can apply for an intra-faculty transfer (i.e. switching from the physical sciences group to another group such as life sciences), the spots in most groups are filled and aren’t available for transfer.

Yes, you can do intrafaculty transfer. And it is completely doable. I transferred out of life science myself.

I think you can apply to both sections in the faculty. I am not too sure on that one though, I used engineering as my back up.
