bump please

I got an 800 IIC using a plain old ti-83plus and a few programs using Kaplan and Sparknotes. (Although I am getting ti-89 next year for AP Calc).

Hi. How difficult would it be for one to take the Math IIC exam and score good/well (740+) if he or she did not take Precaulculus yet? Thanks.

screw the TI-89. get a brain its probably cheaper.

anyways for real advice i suggest the barron's book.. u need the TI-83 alot but its simple and if u know how to graph, find intercept, find y-value given x-value etc... its really easy.

barron's is the best book.. i only spent 3-4 hours reading over it and i got an :

800!

I took practice tests from a few different books. I didn't buy them all obviously, my friends seemed to all have different ones. That exposed me to a lot of different types of questions. Seemed to work, because I got an 800. The one thing I'll say about Barrons is that if you actually plan to review instead of just taking practice tests, I would not use it. Their review sections were worded in ways I'd never seen before and it just seemed unnecessarily confusing.

As for a calculator, the TI83+ was fine for me. Get a distance, volume, and log program and you're set.

anyone use meylani's 15 practise tests?

I used meylani's and took IIC once in Jan. and in June. Unfortunately, I got 740 on my first try and 760 the second. I just can't believe it!!! My conselor said that I should at least get 780 on that test, which meant I should take it again anyway. Did any one take the test for 3 times or more? It looks really bad........can anybody scored 800 teach me how to do it? I am just so bad at math ><..

Although some of you may think it is vitally necessary to have the TI-89 for the SAT Math IIC, it's really not. The 89 contains programs that can easily be written or downloaded from from the internet for the e 83. Also, the solver most likely uses the Y= function on your calculator and just gives you all the x values for when y equals zero. The TI-84/83+ works great for me, just learn how to program, it is the easiest thing of life.

I took the test before i took precalc and got a 760. However, I spent at least 3 hours a day for two months on it.
I took it again after finishing the class and got 800 without any studying.
