Hi, i want to go into phyiscs/ astronomy, and penn state seems to be a good canidate, but one thing keeps popping up that is getting me confused. when i go to the penn state website and click the astronomy tab, it brings me to the eberly college of science. when i google that, it says eberly is in fayette.

which one am i looking for, i want the main campus hopefully, but is eberly another school in the penn state system

Penn State main campus is University Park

Penn State has colleges AND campuses. The individual colleges are the units of the school that actually award degrees. Campuses are the various physical locations in which the colleges (or parts of colleges) are located.

The Eberly family, which comes from the Fayette County area of Pennsylvania, has donated millions of dollars to Penn State. As a thank you for the donations, Penn State has named several things after them.

The Eberly COLLEGE of Science (which awards degrees at the Penn State - University Park CAMPUS) is where the Department of Astronomy and Department of Physics are based. Note that you can actually start your degree at any campus, but you must finish the degree at the main campus - University Park.

Re: The Eberly College of Science:
On March 17 1990, the College of Science at Penn State was renamed the Eberly College of Science in recognition of the support of the Eberly family.

Re: The Penn State Fayette campus - aka The Eberly Campus:
On March 19, 2004, The Pennsylvania State University Board of Trustees voted to re-name Penn State Fayette to honor a family’s longtime “unprecedented and tremendous support.” The new name, Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, recognizes the philanthropic and leadership contributions of the Eberly family of Uniontown to Penn State University and in particular, the Fayette campus.
