Quick Question about Early Action

If I apply Early action do I get rejected or deferred to regular decision? or do they do both?

UMD’s Priority Deadline isn’t an “Early Action” per se. You do not get deferred to a regular decision. You’re either in or out.

so say if im not the best student should I apply early action or wait and do regular decision like everyone else?

^ most people who want to attend UMD will meet the Nov. 1st deadline. If you miss that date, then not only will your chances of merit money and special programs be drastically reduced, but so will your chances of just getting in.

I can never figure out why people don’t apply by the priority date. ^^Your post should be highlighted for everyone applying to UMD for 2012.

btw, I like the “Arrival Survival team” title!

if you want merit money, you should apply early. however, with regards to admissions i’m not so sure it’s actually harder. when i went to their info session (and maybe what they said was wrong), they said 90% apply priority but they only fill 90% of the seats. so if you apply regular, you’re competing for 10% of the seats but only with 10% of the applicants, so by the numbers they gave me it should be pretty much the same.

Thanks guys. This helps a lot.

This may be out of the blue but do you guys know anyone who got in with a low GPA/course load?
