OK, the 3-2 coop program is with 2 engeneering schools: Case Western and Columbia. Most kids pick Columbia as it is in the city. 5 year program leads to 2 degrees: a BS from Foddham and a BSE from the engeneering school selected. Meet the program criteria and have at least a 3.0 average your first 2 years at Fordham and admission into the 3-2 program is automatic

It’s been changed to a 3.2 GPA for guaranteed admission.

JuanSoto, I know of a few kids who went through the program and it was not as dire as you indiacte here. It does not really clash with the core curriculum so long as your major is Physics, Math or Chem. Having met the minimum requirements and maintaining a 3.0 average overall AND in your major, once recommended (guaranteed with a 3.2) you are accepted. So the first three years is Fordham classes meeting core AND major requirements, then two years at Columbia or Case Western taking engineering classes…which while meeting the requirements of their schools (maintaining a B average) also fills out you major at Fordham. So in 5 years you get a BS (Fordham) and a BSE (Columbia). Is it a challange and demanding? yes, but where else can you get into an Ivy league engineering program (ranked 15th in the nation) without applying straight on to the school?

@RamRay: Good to know. I’m still in the fence about trying the program because of the whole Honors program thing, but I have time to decide. I’ve just heard different things about it.

JuanSoto, it is a tough program and you need a solid 3.2/3.3 to get assured admission, but it is an excellent program and when I was an undergrad in the early '70s, I knew 2 kids who got in and it served them both very well. Fordham does indeed have a special relationship with Columbia on this so if this is your passion, go for it!

Thanks. I will definitely look into it, I just have to ask about the workload and finances. Fordham graduates actually do pretty well in regards to Computer Science careers after graduation so both options are great!

Says who? I’m curious to see this data :O

There’s no official data, I am afraid. But when I went to visit Fordham last weekend I asked about this. I was told by professors/admission people that more than 80% of all students manage to get an internship even after sophomore year in the many companies in and around town and even far away. Job wise they pretty much all have jobs in six months. Some students are working for Google, Facebook or Microsoft, but those were probably highlights.

I wasn’t all that surprised honestly. Fortunately a CS degree is very employable right now.

hi…what did you end up doing. considering the 5 year chemical engineering program now
