Fordham vs. NYU

I live in New York and because of financial reasons and not enough scholarships/grants, I removed a lot of my top choices and narrowed it down to Fordham and NYU.
The thing with NYU is that they have offered me some grant and scholarship however, I still have to pay 24k for a single year.
NYU Tandon is one of my top choices so I have no idea what to do. I tried calling and emailing them for an appeal but I’ve heard NYU is known for rarely giving a generous appeal.
On the other hand, Fordham will cost 2k for me (which is affordable), and I’m planning to enter the 3-2, 4-2 Physics Engineering program with The Fu Foundation School at Columbia if I attend.
BTW I will be a Mechanical (aerospace concentration) major if I attend NYU, or a Physics major at Fordham!

I wanted to know about your opinions and thoughts if you’re in the dilemma or if you attend any of these schools!

Thanks a lot in advance!!

bumppppppp

My S went to Fordham and loved it, but I’m generally not a fan of the 3-2 programs. Before you consider it you should get some hard stats on how many people started in the program over the last few years, what courses and GPA you need to qualify to move to Columbia, how may people eventually finished up at Columbia etc. If you have more affordable choices that would put your right into an engineering program I might re-consider those options.

happy1, now that I think about it you are 100% right, the 3-2 program only has around 25 students matriculating to Columbia from Fordham. I love Fordham but in the case of engineering I have decided to attend one of the schools that have accepted me as an aerospace engineer major through a direct non-liberal path. Thank you for your feedback!! Fordham is a really beautiful school ahh!
