Quick question for WM rep

My d is a soph this year and recently we have been receiving quite a few snail mail letters from colleges (WM included) as well as a lot of emails. I don't remember this occurring so early with our oldest; I was thinking it was late in his junior year.

Are schools starting to send material out earlier? Is it begun after they take the PSAT now- even if it is when they are 10th graders? Being she is my last one, I must say seeing them kind of hits me in a bittersweet way...

Anyway I was just curious- maybe bc she is my last one I am more aware of the timing of them arriving. Part of me wants to say "Whoa, too early, don't want to think of that right now!" :)

Generally speaking, many colleges and universities receive mailing lists from the PSAT and search companies as early as the sophomore year and do begin communicating with those students at that point. W&M has been practicing similar search practices for several years because we do want to let potential applicants know that we’re an option for them at an early point.

Email campaigns always have an opt out option if the student/parent wishes to stop receiving communication from a particular school though we hope you’ll continue to learn more about W&M.

Thanks so much for the reply and clarification. She thought it was pretty awesome to receive her first communication from WM and promptly sent back whatever it was they asked her for to get more information. I think she, being the youngest, is probably more in tune with thinking about college than her mom! Have a great day.
