I applied to UCB back in November, and while my application definitely includes everything it's supposed to (grades from all colleges attended, personal statement, etc.), I'm freaking out about a few things: I've applied to major in Interdisciplinary Studies, and while that major has fewer prereqs than, say, chemistry or engineering, there was a history class I planned on taking over the summer, and I've listed it as "planned" on both the UC app and on Berkeley's supplemental section on MyBerkeleyApp. However, my community college made severe cuts to the summer schedule, and I only just found out the class was unavailable a few days ago. Also, there's a section where MyBerkeleyApp asks for total units, and I only entered my units up until Fall 2011 (since I completed the form before my classes were in progress), although the section that specifically asks for my IGETC classes includes in-progress courses for Spring 2012, as does my main UC application. I'm hoping this doesn't TOTALLY jeopardize my application.

10-char bump.

oh dear! mom

your post is a little confusing to me. but i guess we will find out in a few hours anyway. you can always find a history class at another CC over the summer, or take a summer class at UCB. they will certainly understand the fact that you could not take a class that was cut due to the budget. the main thing is you don’t want math and english GE in progress. and you need 60 units. plus igetc. good luck! rock on.

What major did you apply as?

Jk I rerelease that. I would reccomend I would recommend notifying immediately upon acceptance. Sometimes they offer to defer your admission until spring so you finish your pre reqs. Or start looking for online courses during the summer. Best of luck to you today!

Seriously? A bump 20 minutes after?

I ended up talking to a transfer-admission rep a few hours after I posted this, and he clarified the issue for me. :)

What did they say?

@fluxrad: He said that they look at the entire application (so they’ll see the in-progress units on the UC application, even if they’re not on MyBerkeleyApp). Also, he told me to let my admissions counsellor (if I’m admitted) know about the summer class that got cut.

@northbeach I thought that was UCSB that didn’t want students being “in progress” on their Math/English requirements? I’m finished with English, but I’m in a stats class now to fulfill my math requirement (it’s taken me a while to be able to actually get into any math-related classes, unfortunately; English was easier).

I know a handful of people who got into Cal last year who were finishing their English and Math in the Spring prior to transfer. I don’t think it’s huge deal.
