<p>Does the May 1st candidate reply deadline mean that you have to reply by the end of the day on May 1st, or that you have to have replied by the time May 1st begins and if you haven't the colleges will start removing you from their list of potential matriculants?</p>

<p>I’ve been told by two different schools that the deposit check must be postmarked (not necessarily received) by May 1 - presumably, schools will wait a day or two to see what checks come in the mail. However, if responding online, my guess is that the deadline extends at least until 5PM and probably until midnight of May 1. Do you have any way of finding out from the specific college you are considering their policy?</p>
