Hey everyone. Can anyone tell me how Fordham looks at your high school freshman year grades in terms of admission? In the 1st semester of freshman year I had straight C's (two 78's and two 77's) but ever since then and even in the 2nd sem. of fresh. year I have gotten 2 A's and 2 B's each semester.

Anyone get in with low freshman year grades?

Thanks for any help.

I got in with low Freshman Year Grades in 2005. My overall average for the whole year was about an 80(B-) but it jumped up to mid 90's sophomore and junior years. Most colleges understand that freshman year is a transitional period and a few low grades can be justified only and only if you bring up your grades the following years. Just make sure that each year there is an upward slope in your grades and the level of classes that you are taking (For example, if you take Pre-cal junior year, make sure that you take AP calc senior year).

If you want to get into Fordham, you have to make sure that most of your grades are A's (try to keep an overall average of at least a 90) sophomore, junior, and senior years. Students who get into Fordham have an average GPA of 3.7 or a 93, which is about 10 points higher than your current average. So try to get all A's next semester. Good luck!

would it be helpful for me to add that the summer before freshman year (that 1st semester of fresh. year is when I did terrible) I had a big surgery that I was on pain meds for and stuff - on the "other info" section of the common app?
