Hey I’m a waitlistee at Bowdoin… I’m going up to Maine this weekend for a different reason, and wanted to visit Bowdoin on Saturday. But is Saturday part of the Bowdoin Experience weekend for accepted students? I don’t really want to show up in the middle of that or anything… Thanks.

I don't Saturday is one of the B.E. days... but even if it is, you should stop by anyway. Make sure you stop by admissions and let them know that you visited... it can make a difference sometimes.

Hey truegibberish-

Did you stop off at Bowdoin on Saturday? Any news on wailisted kids?

I am waitlisted, too. I cannot even imagine if we do not get an answer until July or so. I think I would give up by then....

In case anyone was wondering about the whole waitlist thing, I have an answer. So I talked to this admissions director guy, and he said that what they do for the waitlist is that they just shuffle through the applications again like they did for RD. If you get off the waitlist, they will give you a call. The waitlist is also unranked. One of the most important criteria for getting of the waitlist is being from a STATE that is under-represented. If your from MA or CA, your chances of getting off the waitlist are much more diffcult. Thats is what i found out. Feel free to ask more ppl.

"If your from MA or CA, your chances of getting off the waitlist are much more diffcult."

So in other words, we might as well give up? It is difficult getting off a waitlist anyway. How frustrating that if I was from North Dakota I might have a better chance....

lurkin' girl -- I visited, but didn't find out much except that I love it... how great.

runningforlife88 -- thanks for the information! You didn't mention NY, but I'm guessing it's not exactly an underrepresented state on the list. Wonderful. Anyway other than moving, anyone having any more suggestions? I'm desperate. Bowdoin is...awesome. Good luck to everyone and hopefully we've got a chance!

truegibberish yes bowdoin is awsome and you do have a chance of getting off the waitlist. Getting off the waitlist all really depends on how many people decide to attend. In general, Bowdoin is aiming for a class of 480 students for the class of 2009. I can also tell you that from the going to the experience that there are good number of people who will not attend bowdoin b/c they have been accepted to schools such as JHU, Brown, Duke, Dartmouth, and Rice. That means there will be definite openings. The best thing that everyone can do is hang on, and enjoy their senior year. :)
