Is the waitlist active?

I’m currently on Bowdoin’s waitlist, and I was just wondering if they’ve begun to accept people off of it.

Anyone hear anything?

No idea. I’m on the waitlist as well…

I got a voicemail from admissions today saying they received my card indicating i wanted to stay on the waitlist and wanted to chat about it, but I didn’t get a chance to call back until the office had already closed.

Could it have been a call that i got in? or is it more to ask questions/ see if i had questions etc? i cant call back until tomorrow now and the suspense is killing me.

Bowdoin has started making wait list offers . .

apparently its active… i got in off the waitlist today!!

Congrats.

Now I get to start waiting anxiously for the next month…

Congrats on getting in! Are you going to go now?

How did they let you know you were off the waitlist? Just curious, since I’m on there as well.

Thanks! A lady from admissions called me to let me know.

Don’t give up hope! I was convinced there was no way I’d get off the waitlist, and my track record this admissions cycle has been pretty unlucky- so there is still hope!

I’m strongly leaning toward Bowdoin, after making college plans and getting really excited for my other school, im also struggling with the choice to just up and move to Bowdoin. But plans change, so we’ll see :)

where else did you get in?

Tufts University :)

congratulations on getting in off the waitlist! I’m waitlisted at Bowdoin and its my dream school, so essentially i turned down all of my other offers for it. If I don’t get in off the waitlist I’m taking a gap year and applying ED instead of RD. Good luck to everyone. Please post/update if anyone hears from Bowdoin about the waitlist.

Wow, though I respect your decision, I’m not sure that’s the wisest thing to do. There are a number of other institutions that are just as good or stronger academically. And no school can provide a “perfect” experience, as nothing is perfect in this world. Going into an experience with such high expectations, you’d more likely to feel crushed if something unpleasant happens.

But Gap-year itself is cool. One can make a very rewarding experience out of it. And you may see things differently in a year’s time.

The thing is, I’m particularly stubborn, and its just one of those situations where it needs to feel right.

I don’t mind the gap year, I skipped a year so I’m technically young for my grade and if I am not accepted this year, I’ve arranged with a family friend to work with his charity, raising awareness about HIV/AIDS in Tanzania/Kenya/Uganda so I will definitely be doing something constructive.

Thank you for that though, I know its unwise to approach something with such high expectations but no matter what happens I’m sure it will work out, I’m relatively adaptable; just another TCK, I guess! :)

Has anyone else heard back, or are they taking a break for now?

Well they already sent out the packets for the fall semester so…

I’m sure most colleges have. That doesn’t mean that they’re done using their waitlist. They may lose some people to other colleges, people may drop out, etc.

And there’s been no indication that the class is even full, so there’s still hope! (though the odds are pretty low…)

So I guess no one else has heard?

Things aren’t looking too great for those of us still on the waiting list, but a good percentage of selective schools have already released people from their waiting lists, so I guess there’s still some hope…

at least two kids have claimed to have been accepted off the waiting list on the Bowdoin facebook group

A kid at my school just got off the waitlist His GPA was very strong, however at least from what I’ve heard, his SAT scores were not the norm. My guess is that they are taking more off the waistlist than usual.
