is it too late to apply to west point?
-dodmerb exam
-nomination

SteslaS: this is about the time last year that my son decided to apply. I'll not lie; it was HARD to get everything done...most people are way ahead at this point. It is not impossible; but it is not easy. The hardest part was getting everything in to the MOC's for the noms. Most of them have Oct. deadlines and you have to get letters of references and many other things together prior to sending it to them. If you start today, you can do it...but it is a TON of work. Hopefully you have someone willing to help you and keep you focused so you can get it all together. I do know of one other student who started even later than my son, and he got in as well. His mother would tell you the same story I am: not impossible...but you can not slack from here on out.

Ok - I just have to ask. Are you asking for yourself or someone else?

If you are asking for yourself - why haven't you started yet? You were on this forum last year, surely you read lots of posts about applying and how you need to get everything done in the fall.
what's up with that?

To answer your question - it's not too late. Mom3boys is right though, get going. Go to your MOC's website - deadlines are coming up and you will need to get letters of recommendation for your nomination applications.

As far as dodmerb - it's not too late. Just don't dawdle on anything.

I agree it is not too late, but time is marching on...

SteslaS - if you are asking for yourself, I am also a little confused. You applied to SLS which would have opened a USMA file. You should be in the system already, and should have received mailings regarding the second step of the application and DoDMERB.

Yes I am asking for myself.
Hi everybody, missed ya.

Lifeball just throws some interesting curve balls at you.
I did get mailings but those were misplaced 'accidentally' by my parents.

I do have a file open but I remember reading that it will be closed if I dont access it by a certain date. Is that true?

The nomination is only for your local congressman?

and what is a MOC?

Don't let the naysayers get you down. You are still way ahead of the power curve. Concentrate on your MOC (member of congress-congressman and senators) nominations and then worry about the rest.

Good luck.

What do you mean by the 'power curve'?

Thanks,

Steslas: If you have "lost" your paperwork you will need to call admissions and request duplicates. Have you tried logging on to the candidate site to access your file? It is unlikely that they would have closed your file without notifying you.

I checked my file, it works.
I was reviewing what I need, I am really worried about getting accepted.
Not only do I not have the best grades but I have a record of being arrested even though it was expunged.

If anything maybe USMAPS but I doubt it.

I'll contact my Congressperson and still apply.
I will definately apply next year once I have some college under my belt.
Can you participate in ROTC even if you don't attend the hosting school?

Its not too late! I applied around this time, and got in no problem.

But I am not sure on your specific situation as far as qualifications...

"Not only do I not have the best grades but I have a record of being arrested even though it was expunged."
My advice is to call admissions and speak to your Regional Commander. Be honest, explain the situation and ask for advice. Good luck!
