Quitting an EC?

I'm not exactly sure where this question would go...

I've been swimming for a couple of years now, both for HS and a club. I had to quit my club swim team for financial reasons (one reason is the 30 min. drive to get there), and I'm thinking about quitting my HS swim team. A huge part of this is because I wouldn't be able to attend other club meetings after school, and I'm taking an online class.

If I quit, would colleges hold it against me? I really love swim team, but I'm afraid I can't fit the practices into my schedule right after school, and I wouldn't be able to practice at my year-round swim team because of costs.

Thanks for reading this!

if it would interfere with your other ECs and classes, i don't think colleges could possibly hold it against you. they would probably ask why you stopped after participating for years, but you have a solid reason.

if you're good at it (varsity) then stay with it
if you're just average, i'd move onto something else like a club and try to get an office position

I'd stay with swimming. I'm sure the clubs will understand if you miss a meeting every once in a while and I'm sure the swim coach (if you talk to him about your problem) will understand if you are a little late to practice.

I would only quit it if you have other ECs to replace it. In that case, it's fine. If you're going to just go home after school, then please don't give it up.

i think varsity sports are worth way more than clubs
if you really think you can't do it, then quit. colleges will see you already have other clubs you are committed too
