R.D- Worth a shot?

Hey all,

I have finished the application and essays and everything, they're all ready to submit. After reading around a bit, I think i might be wasting my time, however. I really like Fordham and would love a chance to go, but I don't want to spend the application fee for nothing. Anyway here are some basic stats:

G.P.A: 3.1 UW, 3.9 W (Been in I.B all 4 years, so every class has been I.B/AP)
SATI: 2020, 1300 without writing
Class Rank: 50/800

White male, large public school in California.

Extra Curriculars:

-Volleyball Team all 4 years, 3 varsity, 2 as captain, 2 times M.V.P
- Basketball Team 2 years, 1 varsity (stopped because of broken leg)
- Pretty good amount of community service in all 4 years including volunteerin at a local food bank, volunteering at a local hospital for kids.
- Guitar Player
- Summer Jobs (summer before Junior and Senior year)
- College Club 2 years, 1 as president
- Educational tour of Europe over 1 summer, counted as credits for high school
- Tutoring Freshman in the I.B program
- Volunteer officiating for local volleyball program
- Also played volleyball for teams outside of school

Essays are pretty decent. Not spectacular, but solid. My recommendations are very strong.

Thoughts?

we have the same SAT score!!!!!!

although i do have a 1380/1600

oh, i think you have a good shot as well. especially since you are from california.

Apply!

Your stats are solidly in the "sweet spot" according to the 2012 Class Profile

I don't think FU men play D-1 volleyball, so that's too bad, but if you have some coaching talent that may be an angle to look into.

If you think you would attend if accepted, spend the extra $$ and apply, you seem like a good candidate.

Thanks a lot for the responses, I went ahead and sent in the application!

Let's hope for the best, thanks again

Fordham needs BASKETBALL PLAYERS.....we are 0-5 this year. HELP! LOL. Can you play basketball in Div I?

I was pretty good when I played, but it's been a while because of my leg haha. I make an awesome water boy though :P

Well they have awesome club basketball as well at Fordham which is HIGHLY competitive. And other sports. But you could always walk on and see what happens. If its an interest to you. Some kids dont want to compete at NCAA Div. I level as its a huge commitment of time and you are on the road so much. They prefer to buckle down in school. So its really a personal choice. I just put it out there for you.

But your stats are great and I think you will be fine. Your unweighted is obviously a touch low, but considering the number of IB credits (which is clearly proven by your weighted avg.) I think they will see that for what it is...a strong academic courseload and a lot of hard work.

Come prepared to write a lot of papers.
