Deferred from Fordham? Chances at RD?

Hello all,

I just received a response from Fordham and I was deferred to RD. Here are my stats that I have previously posted:

-Unweighted GPA: 3.54 out of 4.0
-Weighted GPA: 4.25 out of 4.9
-Class Rank: 30th, Top 10%
-7 AP courses taken by end of the year
-ACT Score: 26
-Four years of soccer at Freshman,JV, and Varsity levels
-Around 70 hours of community service
-Gender: Male
-State: Connecticut
-Race: Caucasian

What are my chances for making it as a deferred applicant? What are the stats of deferred students getting accepted in RD?

Should it give me a higher chance of making it? Because I know that there are alot of people who apply EA with really high stats and don't plan on going to Fordham but were accepted EA.

I was deferred from Fordham with a 3.83 unweighted and over 3.9 weighted with IB classes, clubs, leadership positions and sports top 15% of my class and 1810 SAT.I know someone who had lower statistics and extracirriculars and was excepted. However, she visited the campus? Maybe that made the difference…

Uhm, I got accepted EA to Fordham. My stats were Unweighted GPA 3.6 Class Rank: 27/180 and SAT: 1970. Good luck to you guys and I am sure you guys will get into Fordham.

I have no idea what my uw gpa is since my school doesn’t provide it but I agree with Jpendergast… I was deferred as well and I know my letters of recommendations were top notch, my sat was okay, my essay was great, and I’ve taken 10 APs. I’m sure you’ll have a great chance of getting in regular decisions, both of you! I won’t withdraw my application from Fordham although I will be applying ED2 to Mount Holyoke so, I wish the best of luck to everyone :)

Thanks for the responses guys. Does anyone happen to have any statistics regarding deferred applications at Fordham or deferred applications in general?

my friend also came from an international IB school which helped her even though she had less statistics

@Jpendergast Essays and other factors carry more weight than you think. You can be competitive as you are, but you need to be compelling.

If you got deferred please post in this thread with your stats

Deferred for Gabelli at Lincoln Center

Deferred for Gabelli at…rose hill?? I think
GPA: 3.4
SAT: 1950
Good ECs w/ leadership & a job
Great essay and solid recommendations.

I read somewhere tht 2,500 kids got inaccurate acceptance emails (I’m one of them lol) and of those 2000 got deferred and 500 got rejected.

I know a number of students who have been accepted to Fordham RD after being deferred EA. EA schools typically only take obvious acceptances EA and defer more students than ED schools so while you should definitely put other applications in, you may still get accepted by Fordham RD.

Thanks for the encouraging post spirit

Thanks spirit.

I’m deferred after getting the accepted financial aid email. In terms of stats: 32 ACT. No AP’s because my school offers 3 and they are all science and I am horrible at science. My GPA is 3.4 weighted (school is insanely rigorous + unweighted GPA is even worse). School doesn’t give any honors to students. My essay is good and my recommendations are very good.

I guess I was deferred and not outright rejected because I have a bad GPA but my ACT score is okay. I know EA is only for the people who are obvious admits and they didn’t receive the 32 until November 20th, but I wish I didn’t have to wait until April to hear back from them. If ED was an option I would have done it. Showed as much interest as possible.

Guys I got a FASFA mail in the paper two days after i received my Deferral asking me to sign up for Early Award Program. It doesn’t say congratulations on it nor did I receive an email from FAFSA about it. I just emailed Fordham about it. Has anyone else gotten a paper like this?

I got deferred EA and accepted RD last year. Currently attending  Hang in there!
