R1A over the summer

I'm enrolled in r1a for the spring semester, but I really want to take an interesting breadth class offered only in the spring (History 6b). How are R1A classes like in the summer? Are they easier, or are they more stressful because of shorter time?

Most of them are easier in summer. Due to the shorter time, and as most people would not write or read faster because it is summer, the instructors would give usually lighter workload. I heard some instructors even remove a whole essay from the syllabus when they realize students can’t write that fast.

Wow, I’m planning to do almost the exact same thing (take history 6b and then take natamst r1a in the summer). Just quick question though, do we get all the classes we want during the summer, especially if we start signing up as soon as registration opens? As far as I know, there seems to be no appointment dates. (I really don’t want to be stuck with session A and rest only a week after spring semester finals)

There aren’t separate appointments, but usually people get into the classes they want since it’s a lower demand over the summer. Keep in mind, each class is only in one session, as in you don’t get to pick session A versus session D for a certain class; the duration of the class is set to only one of the sessions.
