Hello everyone,

I recently received a likely letter to Columbia College, and last weekend received a package in the mail informing me I was designated as a Rabi Scholar (for science research). I did not even know the Rabi Scholars program existed, but am super excited. I read about the program online and looked at current students' abstracts (no official info package yet!).

Unfortunately, I will not be able to stay for all 3 of the "Rabi Scholars" courting days, and April is going to be really busy for me OUTSIDE of college stuff too. I have some pretty big decisions to make, and I was wondering how being named a Rabi Scholar should factor into these decisions?

How different is the Columbia College experience for a science student who is a Rabi Scholar than for a student who is not? How does being a Rabi Scholar at Columbia compare to being a "normal" student at other comparable institutions, such as Harvard, Yale, Mit, etc. (not saying I got in or even applied to these schools; just comparisons)? Is there a sizable prestige factor that would help for graduate schools/future jobs, or would any "sticking out" mostly come from the research being a scholar gave me the opportunity to conduct?

Sorry if this was long-winded! Any information would be GREATLY appreciated, especially from other Rabi Scholars. I've been religiously reading all the College Confidential threads about the Columbia experience (some CCers really seem to be jaded about Columbia, haha). Thanks in advance!
