Rabi Scholar

Does anyone, perticularly the people at Columbia, know how you get this? Do they just choose you before you get there, or do you have to apply, or what? I have looked at all the stuff online, and nothing tells anything about how they are chosen, just what benefits they get. I would love to be one of these since I am majoring in physics. Thanks.

The downloadable pdf says that faculty members choose the scholars and that scholars have to indicate by April 1 (May 1 for first-years, I believe it said) whether or not they will be doing summer research. I think they would notify you in the spring if you're selected, because they would want to include the RD people in it.

You might want to drop a little hint with somebody, now that you're in, indicating that you're interested. A hint in the form of an innocent question. . . . how and when are Rabi scholars chosen? . . . wink wink. . . .

Trying to eliminate competition by misleading them eh? lol, never thought of that...

The admissions committee/faculty chooses Rabi Scholars upon acceptance. You've got no say in the matter. However, unlike the other scholars, you can become one later on if you do exceptionally well in your science classes. But even there, you have to be recommended by a faculty member, so perhaps the innocent question would do you well after your first year.

How do you pronounce Rabi?

www.m-w.com, put in rabi and then click Rabi[1]

Thanks very much.
