Race Factors?? !!

<p>I heard a rumor that racial minorities who are more likely to get in in other colleges have a less likely chance at getting in at Penn. Does anyone know if this is true?

<p>^ indians are not legacy, there is no discrimination against a certain race, only natives/blacks/hispanics have affirmitive actions</p>

<p>Yeah honestly if you’re legacy, you get a boost regardless. In terms of which affects your app more, Legacy > race by quite a bit for admissions. I mean its not like there’s low numbers of some races applying, race admission rates don’t fluctuate much from the general admission rate. Now legacies are on a much shorter supply…</p>

<p>Then what is the point of affirmative action? And why is URM considered a hook?</p>

<p>This is just a guess but maybe because the URM pool is weaker in terms of stats.</p>

<p>In the end, it evens out, if that makes sense at all…</p>
