It’s breathtaking to see just how badly some racial groups get discriminated against when you compare the racial demographics of Stanford v UCB, UCLA & Caltech

@GMTplus7 Actually there really only two ethnic groups that seems to get discriminated, Whites and Asians, with the Asians getting the full brunt of the discrimination from all sides. But my biggest issue is the dismissal in the application process of the low SES first generation Asian students who score similar scores as URMs that are accepted to top schools but never get a shot at these same schools. I know that OHMomof2 thinks that these kids also get a similar shot at being admitted like other URM but this is definitely not the case at least with Asian kids from our high school.

Does being first-gen American from an Asian country generally mean poor? I didn’t think it did.

No it does not. I don’t believe I ever stated that.

In other news, the very active pipeline of very high scores from a particular subset of scorers is in danger of being shut down. It is amazing it has taken this long to challenge the organized cheating rings of Asians. Abroad is the starting point.

One can only hope they shut down the similarly active pipeline of provocative, unsourced claims next.

But it’s xiggi! Don’t you know he always gets a free pass for spewing bile against Asians?

Spewing bile?? Time for a cholesystectomy?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/answer-sheet/wp/2014/10/30/an-account-of-exactly-how-students-cheated-on-sat-in-asia/

xiggi has been making these claims for years, and he doesn’t limit them to international students, either. Notice how he said “abroad is the starting point.”

Yes, Fabrizio, and if you prefer to live in denial, power to you. Have my claims been confirmed? For someone who digs deep to find sources for your agenda, you seem prone to overlook the obvious. I had good reasons to make those claims … call it factual evidence!

As far as the domestic scene goes, the dynamics are different, and more insidious. But the correlation are equally powerful. But, of course, there will always be people who pretend fraternities do not have banks of tests. Spend enough time in the test prep industry, and you might understand the depth of the problem.

Good luck in calling my claims unsubstantiated as your new pupil did. As far as being provocative, that seems reasonable in a thread that has no other raison d’être than annoy by bludgeoning others with attempts at establishing a racial superiority.

So xiggi in making your unqualified claim weren’t you trying to discredit ALL Asian students as cheats rather than those specific International Chinese and South Korean students caught cheating. Your post in this regard was irresponsible.

Cheating occurs but this is the case with every ethnicity, I am sure you were aware of that but your post singles out Asians. When those students at Great Neck were caught cheating, I did not assume every rich White kid was a cheat, but your post pretty much tries to say that the reason why Asian students do so well on SAT/ACT is because they are cheaters. That is intellectual dishonesty.

Reading critically is the first step in understanding an argument. Read the post again without undue inferences and speculation. Hint … Check the meaning of a particular subset of scorers!

Next!

Writing clearly with specificity is the first step to convey one’s thoughts and ideas. Writing cryptically or with limited specificity and detail invites confusion to its readers. What you wrote was the latter.

What the…fraternities? xiggi, are you so deluded and so blinded by your prejudice against Asians that you are actually trying to suggest that it is Asian Americans who are behind test banks in the Greek Life system which is mostly composed of white students?

Also, despite being CC’s resident SAT prep guru, when it comes to this topic, xiggi’s writing is a great example of what not to do. Notice how he ALWAYS makes insinuations and suggestions that are just vague enough so he can cover his behind later?

Typical xiggi. He’s only talking about international students from Asia. Except when he’s not. And when he is. And when he’s not.

Haha. Some really have problems reading and avoiding undue inferences. /shakes head in disbelief of such ineptitude.

Problem is that your intent is to create “undue inferences” with your posts. Unless you are saying that you are incapable of writing clearly and concisely.

I must admit that it takes great skill to deliberately write so imprecisely and with JUST the right amount of vagueness to ALWAYS be able to cover your posterior when you need to protect your bonafides.

Remember, kids, the minority of Asian-Americans who participate in Greek Life are responsible for test banks and cheating!

What a display of bottomless stupidity.

Regarding the quality of the “arguments” you’ve made here, truer words were never spoken.
