<p>Okay, I'm sure there's already a thread somewhere about this topic, but I'm tired of looking for it...
Is it a bad idea to use an experience of racism in your essay? Is that too common for the college essay?
I have other topics, but I would prefer to write about this one because its easier for me to write about..
Also, if I did choose this topic, is the use of the "n" word a bad idea? It's kind of a vital part of my essay, but it's used kind of alot (again, its relevant to the story).</p>
<p>It's not the topic, it's what you do with the topic.</p>
<p>Imo, the best topic is the one that allows you to be the most personal, detailed, honest, and revealing. If your essay is personal and revealing, drawn from your own unique life experience, then it won't matter if others have also written on racism. </p>
<p>I can see using the "n" word in an essay about racism. I'd try to avoid using any word "kind of a lot", though.</p>
