I suck at standardized tests and I need to bring up my critical reading score on the SAT. On practice tests I've taken, my critical reading score was always around the 500s, which is pretty low. I'm an excellent student and all with a GPA of 3.7, but the scores don't reflect that. So what's the best way to increase your critical reading score?

I used direct hits and just did a ton of practice sections under timed conditions. I went from a 570 to a 710. Its possible to do even better i'm sure.

What do you mean by direct hits?

Its a vocabulary book (volumes 1 and 2) with about 360 words in it. It has consistently had the most words appear, or "hits," on the SAT per word you study, meaning that if you studied 360 words, possibly on average, 1 out of every 12 words you studied appeared on the SAT.(thats not the actual hit rate, but you get the point)

where do you get these words?

I second that question.
