I took the ACT as a sophomore last year and got a 30:
English - 35
Math - 30
Reading - 32
Science - 24!!!
I know why I didn’t do the best on the ACT Math section (zero preparation at all). There is room for improvement. I have no idea how to approach the science section. In my situation, how would you prep for this section of the ACT? Also, do you think I should take it again in February or should I wait till April to take it again?
I answered this for someone else awhile ago, but here goes. Science was also my most challenging section. There are two things most people struggle with for science: either they don’t understand the questions OR they’re running out of time. I’m guessing you’re the first, since your reading score, which has the same time limit as the science section, is very good. You just have to keep practicing, relentlessly. Do tests from wherever you can get them - red book, PR, crack ACT, anything. Just do them. Go back and thoroughly go over each answer you missed and WHY you missed it. Think of it as the reading section, because it basically is like the reading section, except try to look at the questions from a more scientific/lab-based perspective. If you’re struggling with time, I’d recommend setting the timer to 30-32 minutes and trying to finish in this period. Good luck!
