I'm new to CC (though I've been lurking around anonymously for some time now). I'm a rising senior and I'd like to raise my SAT score drastically. I now it's a lot to ask for but I've been working tediously to get my SAT score to where I'd like to be. My history of standardized testing is as follows: PSAT (sophomore): 139, PSAT (junior): 150, SAT (March of Junior Year): 1570, SAT (June): 1730. I know raising my score to a 2150+ score is a lot to ask for, but I'm highly determined. I've been using the blue book as a means to study and prepare for the October SAT. So Far my scores range from (1850-1990). I think with a little more prep, I may be able to reach the 2100s. I'd like to know though how I could better my score. I think my problem is that I answer most of the questions feeling confident about the response, but I end up getting it wrong. Ultimately my best sections are Writing, followed by Reading and Math. How can I reach my goal? What methods can I try?

remember, anything is possible.

I went from a 3.67 GPA to a 5.0 GPA in one year, with hard work anything can be achieved. A kid at my school went up 800 points in his SAT score (no lie), it’s very rare but with a determined work ethic and strong desire you could get as high as you want.

Finish one book then move to the other, don’t get all at once (unless the test is a couple months away, which in that case you should be doing strenuous work).

Hmmm… I’m going to be a junior this coming year and I raised my SAT score (practice one from ELITE SAT course mind you) from around 1660 to a 1990 in about four weeks (ELITE SAT tests are much harder than the real ones and they say that students who take ELITE SAT tests should raise their grades up to 150 points in actuality for the real SAT test so for a real test I might be getting above a 2100 by now). I still have five more weeks to go and I hope to raise my score to above a 2300 by then. This happened a few week ago. I took a practice SAT score at home a year ago and did my own study for a few months and raised my grade up to the same points. For some reason, when I took the ELITE SAT test, my grade dropped back from 1960s to high 1600s but I managed to raise it back again. But in ELITE, I raised my grade up 300 points in four weeks by going to the library almost every day from 11 AM to 6:30 PM and doing all the homework and reviewing my scores and figuring out why I got them wrong. I hope this helps you a little :)

omg I was reading your question and thought…is this my post??
It sounds almost EXACTLY like me. I too always get the best scorein writing out ofthe other sections and it’smy most dreaded subject. Im also aiming for 2100+.

My PSAT i got a 177, SAT as a sophomore 1680, june SAT 1900.

Although i didn’t start from a 139, it looks like were on the same upwards trend and so far youve gotten more points than me. I think it’s possible. You seem realy determined, like me, and i really wish you the best. I’ll be taking the SAT for thelast time in October too and wish i hope we both get 2100s

Good luck!

YES YOU CAN! Here is how my scores break down throughout high school:
Freshman year: 1560 (no studying)
Sophomore year: 1720 (no studying)
summer before junior year: 1880 (studied)
march SAT: 1980 (studied)
June SAT: 2160 (studied)
now: about a 2260-2300
So, in one years time I have raised my score by 380-420 points. Since u r a rising senior, u dont have as much time. But start studying now!!! Just practice and ull get there… that is pretty much all I did (and I went over grammar rules for writing). Good luck!

Yes! Totally will! but one thing to keep in mind is that colleges are not astonished when they see you take the SAT tests sooo many times. I think retaking the SAT tests 2-3 times is reasonable. But some people retake it as much as possible and that’s a disadvantage compared to other students that only took it once or twice and scored a 2000+

I would say it’s very possible, I did this very thing actually.
Junior year SAT #1 - 1660 (CR-620, M-560, W-480 Essay: 8)
Less than one month later after intense studying…
Junior year SAT #2 - 2030 (CR-690, M-640, W-700 Essay:10)
hoping for 2100+ come November

Just study vocab, do the blue book, and writing is very simple if you learn the major rules of which there are few. However I hear if you have a 400+ increase collegeboard flags your scores? That’s just what a friend told me though haha so anyway good luck!

I went from a 1770 to a 1880 to a 2110. And I never studied. A good night sleep and a healthy breakfast. That’ll do it.

Anything is possible.
I went from a 177 sophomore PSAT to 2250 senior year SAT.

I raised my score 140 points in 2 days.
