I've seen the dorms at USC, and I know the beds can be raised to have more space for storage underneath. My question, though, is that if we raise the beds to the highest they can go, is it hotter when you're up there?

I really can't sleep in the heat so I just wanted to be sure since I remember when I went to camp in sixth grade, I took a top bunk, and at night it would be really hot!

In most cases its best to buy 4 bed risers, that elevate the bed 6" or so, and allow extra storage room ,without making it hard to get into, or out of bed.

Just get a fan and keep it going at night. It’s only really hot in the dorms the first two months, and then maybe May.

Are bed encasements necessary for the dorms?

Some dorms have air con

Only Parkside and Fluor have air conditioning. None of the freshman dorms do.

Parkside A&H had beds that allowed the bed to lofted by raising the mattress frame up on the head and foot board. The top of the bed was about 38" off the floor leaving of height 32" of storage underneath of the bed.
