Random but Neccessary Questions

I’ve decided to create a thread for all those random questions people have to ask, questions where the answer is not readily apparent but that only require a simple answer. I’m an incoming freshman and I’ve got a couple of those questions-if they come off as stupid, forgive me.

For laundry-do they provide detergent or do you buy your own?

Do the ERC dorms have elevators? ( I honestly couldn’t care less about this but my mom’s been pestering me to find out for two weeks. I’m not sure why she wants to know…)

You need your own detergent.

I'm not sure about ERC, I never visited.

i think they have to, right? all because of the ADA

For Revelle's Argo hall, where are the washers/driers located? On every floor or just on the first floor?

student113- washers/dryers are located on every floor.

Yes, ERC Residence Halls have elevators.

Their apartments don't.

Do students generally bring speaker systems?

I would recommend it if you really like music.

A lot of people do bring their own. I'm bringing two next year haha. Including this big ass speaker system that I had this last year. People would ALWAYS complain about me playing music too loud. Then I would also hook that stereo up to the playstation or tv so we'd watch movies and play guitar hero on that ish.

Whoa... TWO?! Actually my speaker system is pretty small, its only a 2.1 (2 speakers and one box thingy)

QUESTION: Do alot of people bring fans?

you may need it if there's a heat wave or your computer is running too hot hehe. at the beginning of the year i remember it being really hot.

I doubt you'll need the fan. San Diego is having a heatwave right now. Once it's over (Tomorrow) it should be fine.

do you eat with your orientation groups throughout the whole two days?

WTH? We're still with our orientation groups on move in day?

I think he hasn't had orientation yet.

Yes, during orientation you eat with your group and OLs.

were is the closest barber??????

and what shuttle should i take to go to UTC for free?

The closest is Supercuts at 8657 Villa La Jolla Dr, La Jolla, CA.

Any questions in regards to the city?

"I just found out that P/NP is actually really bad for grad schools. Because they count it as a C when they do your GPA. Or so I've heard from 2 different 3rd year sources."

is this true?

Yes and No. Pass/No Pass is essentially you either get the credit or you don't. Since getting full credit is a C, you "pass" with a C grade. But that does not affect your GPA. Graduate schools do not want to see a lot of P/NP classes because they want to see your grades, not credits.

Pass/No Pass will never affect your GPA. Graduate schools tally how many P/NP classes you have taken, and if it is over a certain amount they might reject you just based on that.

yea i know the supercuts one but they charge like 20 bucks :(
