@doschicos, I did get free shipping. You are correct, sometimes they have $5 off at store, but there’s no store near me either. (They do open seasonally at a mall near us, but they only have pre-made boxes).
Yes, it’s nice to get the custom mix to get the favorites.
Best discount available for See’s, assuming not an employee, is buying discounted gift cards at Costco and using them in store, IIRC, though, I don’t think you can get change so you do have to buy a full pound at a time. Haven’t done this in awhile so it’s possible the rules have changed.
Kids get dh a custom box every Father’s Day…and if they’re having a tough time thinking of birthday or holiday gifts, he’ll get custom boxes then too. We all know one another’s favorites. YUM!
So what are everyone’s See’s favorites?
They also sell See’s gift certificates at a discount at Sam’s and Costco sometimes.
I have never seen See’s gift certificates at Costco, but I’m on the east coast, so no surprise.
@doschicos, my favorite is Toffee-Ettes. California brittle is also up there. I like dark chocolate with nuts also.
I don’t usually pay full price for myself, but my daughter’s wish list was mostly from internet retailers that don’t run many sales. Getting Rakuten dollars back is the most I could do this year for several purchases.
I don’t get what people see in See’s (pun intended). My S’s MIL loves it. I find their chocolate bland and a bit tasteless. Not worth the calories to me.
I remember growing up that buying retail always meant paying full price, unless it was a special time of the year – eg, September for summer clothes, January for Christmas decorations and linens, and so on. You could save money by timing your purchases, but if you needed something in season, you just paid for it. Everyone did. I think the stores have brought this on themselves by discounting things, offering coupons, etc.
See’s cards at Costco are set for $25, and you can use them again and again… they don’t give change, but they are not used up if you buy $18 worth. Good clerks will write on them with a sharpie how much is left.
And my favorite are the peppermint patties, very reminiscent of the old Campfire Girls peppermint patties…SO much more delicious than Girl Scout thin mints IMHO. DS likes the small suckers for cough drops. And in fact, this year, the See’s gift card was what all the nieces and nephews got. They can order on-line, which is not ideal because of shipping, but they can ship to someone else, too.
What thread has the cranberry bread recipe? I can’t find it. Store doesn’t carry ocean spray brand, so I found the recipe online, but someone had made substitutions for the orange that I liked.
So true! There are quite a few retailers that I’ll never pay full price at because I know they run sales quite frequently, often at 50% off. Therefore, their “retail” price means overinflated price.
It was this thread - pages 149 and 150
Has anyone else been inundated with the"congratulation, you’re a winner" spam when visiting CC on the mobile app? Ugh it’s driving me crazy. I’ve cleared all my user data and emptied my cache and it’s still coming up. Never happened until after the new login change… Maybe a coincidence but wondered on I’m the only one. I’m on chrome with a pixel 3a
Use a blocker (ads, trackers, lots of bad stuff). I like uBlock Origin best. https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock#ublock-origin
I use it on mobile (Firefox) and desktop.
@JustaMom5465. I am also on a Pixel 3A (great phone) but I use the brave browser that has built in blockers. https://brave.com/dow674
I don’t have any issues like that at all. I just logged in with Chrome and not having an issue either.
A number of of have the contest spam, it’s discussed on the new update thread and another about Chrome. My problem is on the android tablet.
@OHMomof2, I loaded AdBlock and it’s funky. Eg, some pages come up all black. You think uBlock Origin is better?
I started receiving 5-10 spam emails daily (which I rarely received before) since the login change. Coincidence??
I send my mom peanut brittle. She loves it…
My three favorite See’s candies are butterscotch square, peanut crunch and coconut special.
