This past weekend I listened to some episodes of The Daily on 1.5x - I wouldn’t do it for every podcast but it worked for these episodes!
I listened to a recording of our city council meeting at 1.5. Perfect. I never know when they’re going to talk about something of interest. By the time they do, I’m usually ready to quit listening. THANK YOU for the suggestion!
A random question… how often do you guys dust your walls or ceilings? I must be a giant slob because that is not something I would even think about doing regularly. I do make sure no cobwebs or dust collects on anything hanging on these surfaces but I have never extensively dusted bare walls. We do have air purifiers and an electronic air filter for the whole house.
Do you mean Windows 11? Or Android 12?
Our walls only get cleaned when I see something on them, but it’s not our preference to be super clean around the house. We believe it’s better for our health not to be super clean except for food handling and similar things.
Never unless there is something there. The closest I come is cleaning the baseboards.
In almost 50 years I have never dusted a ceiling, and I’m quite certain my parents have never dusted one in their 70+ years. Walls, I do dust parts of them from time to time - we have a couple of corners that seem to just attract it, and most of our walls are dark colors. But I also only clean the parts I can reach.
Baseboards - lol. Mine used to be so clean when the kids were in pre-school. I’d pay them $0.50 to do them. They were down there anyway. Then, they grew up. Boo. In general, I don’t clean them, except in my bathroom where it’s easy to reach and dust collects.
but I have used the leaf blower to blow out the dust of some radiators that don’t have covers. Maybe once every few years.
Only the corners that get cobwebs get dusted here. We do clean baseboards every now and then, and if we notice a mess on a wall of course we would clean it, but no regularly scheduled dusting of the walls or ceilings here.
Ceilings never – except at joint between walls & ceilings. Walls: rarely. Some of our dark accent walls with stipple finish show the dust more readily. I’ve probably dusted them 2-3 times over many years. Baseboards (was that asked above?), nearly every time I dust (which is not often…shhhhhh).
We have a non-brand-name swiffer type duster with an extension wand. Makes the wall/ceiling joint, any cove moulding, and baseboards easy. No bending or stretching required.
I meant the new Windows operating system. I was wondering if there were any noticeable performance difference, like faster start up.
I’ve seen screen shots of the new taskbar at the bottom, but everything else looks the same.
I’m not an obsessive cleaner - at all (clutter is another story…) but I have this tool thingy that I use maybe twice a year to run around the tops of the walls where meets the ceiling and then take it down the wall to floor at each corner. We have high ceilings and this is the best cleaning they are going to get! It is fast and easy.
We don’t dust walls either, except if dust is visible. I was surprised that the dust/mildew/mold of former neighbor’s high ceiling new home triggered D’s allergies so badly when our older small rarely dusted home doesn’t. Maybe the air cleaners and more cross ventilation in our home makes the difference. Maybe it is something in the drywall — a chemical? Oh well, we haven’t been invited back—not even sure if they still live there or have moved.
The only time I ever routinely dusted walls and ceilings was when we lived in an old house that had a 1970s era extension with popcorn ceilings. The original part of the house had rough plaster, heavily textured in some rooms, that seemed to attract dust, too. Since then, I clean those areas only when I see a cobweb.
Spent all morning vacuuming/wiping our lower level walls as we had all the tile jack-hammered out a few days ago. Will need to do the main level, too, as the silt is EVERYwhere.
In normal times, I just keep the walls/ceilings free of cobwebs, but I vacuum baseboards in every room every week.
Question:
Is it possible for the human brain to truly understand that the universe has always been, has no beginning and no end, that it goes on forever?
My feeble brain just absolutely cannot comprehend it. I think about it and I know conceptually that this is true, but I can’t honestly say that I truly get it.
Lol, if I really do a deep dive into this, I realize how insignificant an individual life is, then I’m off to the abyss that is nihilism.
I get why some people prefer to binge watch the Bachelor or The Real Wives of Beverly Hills, etc. Far less brain drain.
I’m going to leave @Nrdsb4 existential question aside for the moment and ask something more mundane.
Has anyone purchased a garage door through Costco? We’re on the market for a new door. They have an arrangement with a door company called Amarr.
We haven’t bought a garage door from Costco, but we have taken a cruise and rented cars through them (at great savings).
We’re about to have them come and give us a quote for window treatments (cell shades) - I’ll let you know if we go with them.
Lol, and I promise I wasn’t smoking weed or doing mushrooms.
LOL. I think your question deserves a separate thread!!!
Shellac/Gel manicure. I’ve gotten several of these over the last few years and usually by week 3, the polish is peeling off. Hadn’t gone anywhere during the pandemic. Two months ago, went to a local place just before a wedding. Polish lasted as-is for a full month - got it removed/changed for another wedding. It’s four weeks today and the polish shows no signs of coming off - has there been a change in the shellac/gel manicures? Or is this new place doing something different?
